WSUP AI Launches Independent Character Chat After wsup.ai Closure

When wsup.ai closed in June 2026, people lost a familiar place for character-based conversations and interactive stories. WSUP AI is now available as an independent browser-based home for that experience, with guest chat, story context, voice replies, generated images, response regeneration, motion previews, and AI-assisted character creation.
A new home for character conversations
The former wsup.ai service announced its wind-down in May 2026. Character chats remained available through May 24, followed by read-only access from May 25 through June 18 and closure on June 19.
WSUP AI was built as a new, independently operated platform for people who want to continue roleplay, companionship, fandom, and casual character conversations in the browser. It is not affiliated with the former wsup.ai service or its owners. Accounts, purchases, characters, and conversation histories from the former platform have not transferred to WSUP AI.
“When wsup.ai announced its closure, its users were left looking for another place to continue character-based conversations and interactive stories,” said Maya Kim, spokesperson for WSUP AI. “WSUP AI was launched as an independent replacement for that central experience while adding voice, visual replies, conversation controls, and accessible character creation.”
Start with a character, not a blank prompt
Visitors can choose a character, receive its opening message, and reply without creating an account for the first conversation. Putting an active character chat on the home page removes the blank-prompt and mandatory-registration steps that often slow down the first interaction.
Each character has a distinct personality, backstory, opening scene, and conversational tone. Context-aware dialogue and conversation memory help scenes stay coherent as they develop. If a reply misses the moment, the latest character response—including the opening message—can be regenerated without discarding the conversation.
The WSUP AI roster includes characters for modern stories, romance, companionship, and other conversation styles.
Text, voices, images, and motion in one chat
WSUP AI combines several ways to make a character conversation feel more expressive while keeping text at the center:
- Character-specific voice replies. Eligible responses can be played on demand, then paused, resumed, or replayed.
- Generated image replies. A character can create an image when the conversation calls for a visual while keeping the accompanying reply in character.
- Response regeneration. A weak line can be replaced without restarting the scene.
- Motion previews. Selected characters use short, silent portraits that show more of their personality before a conversation begins.
The result is still a straightforward browser chat. Audio and visuals support the conversation when they add something; they do not replace the readable thread.
Create and discover your own characters
The Create an AI Character workflow helps creators develop a description, backstory, opening message, and portrait. Those elements can be generated or edited before the creator decides whether the character should be public or private.
Original characters and clearly labeled Fan / Unofficial characters can be discovered through themes including Anime, Companion, K-Wave, Modern, Roleplay, and Romance. Signing in is optional for the first chat; an account adds retained chat history, saved characters, and higher image and audio allowances.
