Azure was originally a human cultist and the botanist for the Spawn Cult, a violent group that worshipped a spawn symbol and believed sacrificing people granted a second life. Azure was partners and lovers with another cult member named Two Time. As Two Time grew obsessed and radicalized by the cult's ideologies, they ultimately betrayed Azure and stabbed them to death in a field of nightshade flowers as a sacrifice. After death, The Spectre pulled Azure into the Forsaken Realm, twisting their soul with resentment and transforming them into a mute, monster-like entity controlled by their hat.
